There are many reasons to bring a pet dog into your household and make it your companion in life. Each different breed requires special care and you need to have proper information about the dog breed, about its needs and requirements. 




For first-time owners, it is crucial that they spend time evaluating their decision of bringing home a pet animal. Instead of deciding to bring home a pet animal on a whim, you should think through your decision and research into whether you are up to the responsibility ornot.



If you have decided upon bringing home a cat breeds, then you need to decide upon a dog breed that will be suited to your lifestyle, not one that you like. This is important as a dog suitable to you and your lifestyle will coexist with you happily and with contentment. For first-time owners this is crucial. 


Dog breeds and dog types 

You should know that there are currently just below 200 different dog breeds available for you to adopt, other than the various mix-breeds. These different breeds can be grouped into 7 different groups. You should know about the various groups and what to expect from each of the dog types:

  • Sporting dogs: All-rounder dogs that are easily trainable, love human companionship, and adept at outdoor activities, especially with their high endurance.

  • Hound dogs: Affectionate and loyal dogs that require different levels of exercise depending on the breed just like norwegian forest cat.

 

  • Toy group: Require small amounts of exercise and comfortable with indoor living. They exhibit strong personalities and become good family pets. 

  • Non-sporting group: Dogs that have a mix of characteristics end up in this group. 

  • Working group: They are easily trained and intelligent and have characteristics that can be used in helping out people in various security services, search and rescue operations, etc.

  • Herding Group: Known for their intelligence and loyal companionship. They are great family dogs that are especially protective of children and careful around them.

  • Terrier group: Sometimes stubborn individuals that require lots of training and daily outside exercise. Some of these breeds require daily grooming. 



Things that you should keep in mind

  • Adopt a dog that fits your lifestyle and daily routine as ity can overcome your depression also. If you are away from your home for long hours, find a breed that is okay with being alone with the right training. 
  • Make sure that you can fulfill the daily exercise requirements for your pet dog otherwise it can become taciturn or destructive. 
  • You should be able to spend time and money on your dog, which includes taking it to the vet for routine checkups, keeping up with the vaccinations, and taking care of its grooming needs.
  • Get a dog that is easily trainable and loves to be around people, especially if you have people over regularly, or if you accompany your pet to public spaces.
